Saudi Arabia and the US have solidified their strategic partnership through the signing of multiple landmark agreements during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s has recent visit to the White House. Key highlights include the US-Saudi Strategic Defence Agreement, which deepens over 80 years of defence cooperation and enhances deterrence and regional security. This agreement facilitates significant defence sales, including future deliveries of advanced F-35 fighter jets and nearly 300 American Abrams tanks, boosting Saudi military capabilities while supporting American jobs.
The two nations also signed a joint declaration completing negotiations on civil nuclear energy cooperation, establishing a legal and multi-billion-dollar framework for a long-term partnership built on strong non-proliferation standards. Further agreements enhance cooperation in critical minerals supply chains and artificial intelligence, allowing Saudi Arabia access to leading US AI systems with technology safeguards.
Economic ties saw a significant boost as Saudi Arabia announced increasing its US investment commitments from $600 billion to nearly $1 trillion signaling deepening trust of and cooperation. Additional agreements cover easing Saudi investments, financial market collaboration education and training and vehicle safety standards.
