Saudi Arabia joined the global community in celebrating World Animal Day on October 4, reaffirming its commitment to protecting animals and promoting their welfare. The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of animal care and strengthen efforts to meet international standards for animal protection.
Leading these initiatives the Saudi Ministry of Environment Water, and Agriculture organized several exhibitions and activities targeting all segments of society according to the Saudi Press Agency. The ministry continues to work closely with the partners to enhance communication for support veterinary services and improve animal welfare across the Kingdom.
Supporting these national efforts the Saudi Animal Welfare Society, known as Refq, plays a key role in the spreading awareness about this compassionate treatment of animals in line with Islamic values. The organization focuses on controlling the stray animal population using the scientific approaches offering medical care and shelter and facilitating re-adoption. Refq also collaborates with regional and international bodies provides training, consults with government and private sectors and represents Saudi Arabia in global animal welfare discussions.
