RIYADH — According to information obtained by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has started a new campaign to provide fugitive foreign workers a 60-day grace period to update their status using the ministry’s Qiwa platform.
The ministry’s Qiwa platform disclosed that “those employees, against whom there is an absence report, can utilise the grace period, starting from Dec. 1 and ending on January 29, 2025, to transfer their services to another employer.”
Employees who fit the requirements were urged by the platform to promptly move their services to another location using the Qiwa platform’s service before the deadline of January 29. According to the statement, the campaign’s objectives are to improve the stability of the labor-employee relationship, provide workers with more opportunities to update their status in accordance with the law, and enable them to transfer their services to another employer. It emphasised how important it is to make the most of the time before the deadline passes.
The Qiwa platform seeks to ensure a stable and appealing working environment while offering all work system services digitally and protecting the rights of contractual parties, including employers and employees.
Through the Qiwa platform, the ministry has upgraded the systems to allow beneficiaries to transfer their services to a new employer. All workers involved in the campaign will receive text messages informing them of the possibility to amend their status.
