In a UN ICT Development Index, Saudi Arabia has remained in second place out of the G20, demonstrating the robustness of the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure.
The rating, which is released by the International Telecommunication Union, uses sub-indicators split into two axes—inclusive and effective communication—to assess the advancement and digital growth of 170 countries in information and communication technology services.
As per a release, it also assesses the resilience of digital infrastructure.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the analysis also showed that the Kingdom placed first among the G20 nations in the effective communication axis and second in the inclusive communication axis.
According to the SPA report, the Kingdom’s Communications, Space, and Technology Commission stated that Saudi Arabia’s consistent progress in the index highlights the strength of its digital infrastructure and its contribution to driving the development and expansion of the digital economy and drawing in investment.
With an estimated valuation of SR166 billion ($44.2 billion), the Kingdom’s communication and technology market is the largest and fastest expanding in the Middle East and North Africa area.
In addition, more than 198 percent of Saudi Arabians have a cellphone subscription, and the average monthly data consumption per resident is three times greater than the global average.
