Saudi Arabia to Chair Global Audit Body: A New Era of Financial Leadership

Saudi Arabia has reinforced its position as a global leader in public financial auditing and accounting by securing the chairmanship of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The announcement was made during the 25th General Assembly of INTOSAI, held in Sharm El-Sheikh under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Starting in 2031, Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit (GCA) will assume the chairmanship for a three-year term. The Kingdom will welcome to delegations from over 195 countries, led by heads of supreme audit institutions assuming leadership of the world’s premier organization for financial and performance auditing.

This role will enable Saudi Arabia to guide global initiatives enhancing transparency public-sector governance, and government performance while strengthening public trust in national economies. GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari congratulated King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support emphasizing that this achievement reflects the Kingdom’s strong international reputation and the trust it enjoys worldwide.

Dr. Alangari highlighted significant advancements within GCA in the organizational independence, technical and human capabilities and methodological innovation, which have all contributed to realizing its vision for impactful auditing improved public-sector effectiveness, and enhanced quality of life for citizens.
