MAKKAH: To highlight the Kingdom’s rich history and hospitality, English teacher and cultural host Fathima Alayan has welcomed visitors to her Riyadh home. Her project is in line with the country’s goal of enhancing cultural identity and promoting it internationally. Alayan’s love of Saudi culture and her skills in English have allowed her to create an experience for guests that combines traditional hospitality with artifact and costume exhibitions and even cooking classes.
Alayan participates in the Hihome program, which gives tourists the opportunity to experience Saudi culture by dining and cooking with the families while touring actual houses and fields. “In accordance with the vision of my leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, I bear the responsibility of presenting my nation’s identity and the culture of the Saudi family to the world by welcoming foreign visitors in my humble home,” Alayan told Arab News.
Alayan symbolizes Saudi women as active participants in national efforts and serves as an example for promoting the ethics and values of Saudi society. A variety of traditional dates and desserts, including luqaimat, masabib, and hanini, are served to guests along with real Saudi coffee to start their journey. A lavish lunch or dinner that includes carefully and lovingly prepared foods like kabsa, mandi, jareesh, and marqouq follows.
