During a Security Council meeting, the Kingdom’s permanent representative, Abdulaziz Alwasil, emphasized Saudi Arabia’s enduring support for the Palestinian cause, calling for renewed global efforts toward comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East. Alwasil highlighted that Saudi Arabia has long worked towards a just resolution to the Palestinian issue and, faced with the unprecedented suffering in Gaza, has ramped up initiatives to restore stability, launch reconstruction, and help Palestinians reclaim dignified lives in their homeland.
He spotlighted Saudi Arabia’s recent diplomatic moves, such as the joint Saudi-French conference at the UN in September Alwasil also introduced the Emergency Coalition for Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority, a collaborative effort with partner nations aimed at addressing a critical financial crisis facing the Palestinian administration.
He stated that the fund’s objective is to “stabilize the Palestinian Authority’s financial condition and ensure its ability to govern, provide services, and maintain security. In addition to the active involvement of US President Donald Trump in implementing the first phase of the ceasefire deal in Gaza and creating “a comprehensive and just path towards peace,” the ambassador expressed gratitude for the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
