The Fashion Commission of Saudi Arabia has recently opened The Lab, a product development studio in Riyadh.
Misk Foundation CEO Badr Al-Badr and Deputy CEO Omar Najjar, as well as industry experts and government officials, attended the launch. The project’s headquarters are in Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, also known as Misk City.
Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission, stated that The Lab will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the industry. And help local designers realise their creative visions as part of the “Made in Riyadh” label.
Misk City CEO David Henry stated that The Lab would elevate the Kingdom’s fashion industry and allow domestic businesses to showcase their products both nationally and internationally.
Henry emphasised Misk City’s role in promoting national retail brands in the fashion sector and supporting small and medium-sized local businesses. The studio would fund education and training programmes for young Saudi designers while opening up new investment opportunities in the fashion industry.
It would also help in hosting fashion events and festivals in Misk City.
