Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a written message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The message was handed over to Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz during a meeting in Riyadh with Ali Reza Rashidian, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization. During the meeting, the two officials discussed several topics of mutual interest.
The timing of this diplomatic correspondence is notable, coming just ahead of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s scheduled visit to the United States is where he is set to meet President Donald Trump. The content of the message from Iran’s president has not been publicly disclosed but it underscores ongoing communication lines between Saudi Arabia and Iran amid complex regional dynamics.
This exchange reflects a continued engagement to between the two nations on issues of shared importance including in the diplomatic and possibly regional and security matters especially in the context of Saudi Arabia’s are expanding international diplomacy efforts.
