DUBAI: After an American submarine sank an Iranian warship, Iran threatened to destroy military and economic facilities throughout the region, and early Thursday, it launched missiles toward Israel as the sixth day of aerial attacks in the Middle East began.
Shortly after Israel’s military declared it had launched fresh attacks in Lebanon against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant organization in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the country revealed the impending attack. After the United States and Israel increased their bombardment of Iran’s security forces and other symbols of authority on Wednesday, the fighting went on.
State media declared that the funeral for Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was murdered at the beginning of the war, will be postponed due to the high intensity of the strikes on Iran. In 1989, millions of people attended the funeral of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, his predecessor.
Targeting Iran’s nuclear program, missile arsenal, and leadership, the US and Israel declared war on Saturday, implying that overthrowing the government is one of their objectives. However, the precise objectives and schedules have changed on several occasions, indicating an unresolved dispute.
The US military was commended by President Donald Trump on Wednesday for “doing very well on the war front, to put it mildly.” As they rejected a resolution aiming to end the war, fellow Republicans in the US Senate sided with Trump on Iran.
