The GCC Chairman Praises the UN for Adopting a Historic Strategic Cooperation Resolution

RIYADH: Jasem Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, praised the UN General Assembly’s passage of a historic resolution on cooperation between the organisations on Friday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, he called the first-of-its-kind agreement, officially named “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council,” a significant step towards strengthening regional and global cooperation. Kuwait now serves as the GCC’s president and presented the resolution, which was adopted on Monday, to the UN on behalf of the GCC’s member nations.

According to Albudaiwi, its approval demonstrates the GCC’s esteemed standing as an engaged regional player in initiatives to promote world peace and security. He went on to say that it represents a new stage of the organisations’ strategic alliance, characterised by specific strategies and initiatives to strengthen collaboration.

“The success of the resolution embodies the spirit of unity within the GCC and its commitment to working constructively with international partners across multilateral platforms,” he added, praising Kuwait’s diplomatic efforts at the UN in New York.
