RIYADH: The secretary-general of the International Maritime Organisation, Arsenio Dominguez, and his entourage were welcomed in Riyadh on Friday by Saleh Al-Jasser, the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and chairman of the Transport General Authority. Several officials and representatives from pertinent organisations were also in attendance, along with Rumaih Al-Rumaih, the deputy minister of transportation and logistic services.
In keeping with global initiatives to safeguard the safety of maritime navigation and the security of sea lanes, the conference focused on collaboration and enhanced cooperative work between Saudi Arabia and the IMO in the fields of maritime security and sustainable development.
The secretary general’s visit to Riyadh, which includes the meeting, highlights the Kingdom’s pivotal role in bolstering the organization’s projects and activities that centre on the preservation and sustainability of maritime navigation. It also emphasises the Kingdom’s adherence to all agreements made by the group that seek to ensure ships travel across international shipping lines in a safe and secure manner.
