The SFDA of Saudi Arabia Attends the International Conference on Drug Regulation in India

Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the 19th Annual Meeting of the International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA), which took place in New Delhi, India, from October 14–18, 2024, was led by Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).

The Central Drug Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO), the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Government of India, in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO), organised the event, which was opened by Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.

In order to develop crucial suggestions for drug regulation, the ICDRA, a significant meeting for regulatory organisations, seeks to improve collaboration and exchange experiences. The theme for this year, “Smart Regulation: Providing Quality-Assured Medical Products for All,” covered important subjects such medical product safety, regulatory changes, and the regulation of cutting-edge technologies.

The presence of member states is a testament to our shared goals of ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of medical products worldwide,” Dr. Aljadhey said, underscoring the significance of international cooperation. As we talk about “Smart Regulation,” I do not doubt that our combined efforts will result in creative fixes and more robust regulatory structures. By encouraging cooperation, standardisation, and information exchange, we can tackle the challenges of the current dynamic regulatory environment and enhance people’s healthcare experiences.
