The Strategic Role of Rail Logistics in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030

RIYADH: As part of its continuous efforts to improve supply chain efficiency and elevate the degree of integration with other transport modes, Saudi Arabia Railways has announced the opening of five new logistical corridors in the freight sector.

In light of the swift changes observed in global supply chains, SAR’s action supports regional and international trade movement, accomplishes the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, and realizes the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub.

Through a multi-modal transport network that combines road and rail, the corridors create an integrated logistics system that connects the Arabian Gulf ports with central and northern Saudi Arabia, extending to the Red Sea ports and the northern parts of the Kingdom. This improves supply chain fluidity and cargo flow efficiency across multiple routes.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of SAR’s Board of Directors, Saleh Al-Jasser, who places a high value on this industry due to its role as an enabler of numerous national sectors, is responsible for the railway sector’s rapid development, according to SAR CEO Bashar Al-Malik.

He pointed out that these corridors are an integrated package of logistics solutions that improve supply chain dependability and efficiency under a variety of circumstances. These solutions are based on coordination with pertinent authorities to improve cargo flow fluidity and logistics operations efficiency, as well as integration between various modes of transportation.
