RIYADH: The Saudi Press Agency said Monday that Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the Syrian Arab Republic’s acting president, had visited the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence’s Riyadh headquarters. State Minister Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdullah Alswaha, National Cyber Security Authority Governor Majed Al-Mazyed, and Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority Governor Suhail Abanmi welcomed Al-Sharaa upon his arrival.
Under the direction of Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the SDAIA, Al-Sharaa visited the organization’s premises. Alghamdi emphasised Saudi Arabia’s technological developments and its endeavours to establish the Kingdom as a global hub for artificial intelligence technology in line with Vision 2030. He also discussed the Kingdom’s initiatives to maximise data use, such as the Tawakkalna app, which offers a one platform for all government services.
Presentations were also given by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and the National Cybersecurity Authority. The SDAIA is an autonomous government organisation that specialises on AI and big data, having been established by royal order in 2019.
Al-Sharaa met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia on Sunday during his first trip to the Kingdom since assuming office, and the two men talked about measures to help the Syrian Arab Republic’s security and stability. Along with reviewing broader regional trends, they also talked about ways to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations.
