RIYADH: The third European Film Festival begins next week in Riyadh and Jeddah for the first time.
The European Union Delegation to the Kingdom is launching the event, which will take place from May 29 to June 6, in collaboration with the embassies of EU member states and Arabia Pictures.
It will be held at VOX Cinemas Century Corner in Riyadh and the recently opened VOX Cinemas Jeddah Park in Jeddah.
This year’s festival is bigger than ever, featuring 21 European films from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
Christophe Farnaud, EU Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, stated, “I am pleased that the European Film Festival has become a landmark event on the Kingdom’s cultural calendar. The festival has grown year after year, and this time we are not only showing more films, but also bringing the festival to Jeddah. I hope this will encourage even more Saudi film fans to attend the festival’s numerous film screenings and side events.
Ahmed Teama, CEO of Arabia Pictures, expressed his pleasure in renewing the collaboration with the EU Delegation in Saudi Arabia for the third year.
