RIYADH: According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday, the Jouf municipality has declared that a project to develop the area around Zaabal Castle is 95% complete.

Atef bin Mohammed Al-Shara’an, the mayor of the Jouf region, stated that the project will integrate the urban and heritage identities of the area while simultaneously fostering the expansion of the tourism industry and the preservation of historical sites.
Al-Shara’an stated that the municipality aims to revitalize Sakaka’s urban environment and citizens’ quality of life by redesigning and enhancing a few city districts.
This involves using stone from Dumat Al-Jandalm, a city of ruins in northwest Saudi Arabia, to resurface the castle’s streets, walkways, and surrounding areas. The stone was chosen to mimic the area’s natural surroundings. Al-Shara’an also emphasized the establishment of green areas and the installation of lighting poles with traditional styles.
