Arab nations Request That the Security Council use its Enforcement authority to compel Israel to abide by the ceasefire resolution.

NEW YORK CITY: The UN group of Arab nations called on the Security Council to use Chapter 7 of the UN Charter on Friday to compel Israel to impose an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for the balance of Ramadan, permit aid workers to freely transport supplies, and avert an impending famine in the region.

A resolution advocating for a ceasefire during the Muslim holy month was recently adopted by the council. This came after two different resolutions requesting that Israeli authorities remove limitations on aid workers and permit the enclave’s starving populace to receive aid at the volume required to address the situation’s escalating severity.

Legally binding as a result of international law. The Security Council is authorized by Chapter 7 of the UN Charter to command military action and nonmilitary measures, like sanctions, in order to guarantee the implementation of its resolutions and to “restore international peace and security.”

The Israeli military attacked a convoy of three vehicles carrying the World Central Kitchen organization’s logo on Monday in central Gaza, killing seven employees of the food relief organization.
