On Tuesday, a New Fleet of 76 Public Transport Vehicles Began Service in Jeddah

On Tuesday, April 1, a brand-new fleet of public transport buses began service in Jeddah. The buses feature new routes for greater city coverage, modernised buses with the most significant safety and comfort requirements, and eco-friendly electric buses.

The project intends to offer a convenient and effective transit mode that helps lessen traffic jams and enhances the standard of living for both locals and tourists in Jeddah. 76 buses are part of the project’s integrated network, which serves several residential neighbourhoods with high population densities. To accommodate daily transportation needs, the first phase consists of 91 bus stops and 14 major routes that are thoughtfully placed. The buses are also outfitted with contemporary technology to guarantee passengers’ comfort and safety.

Along with industrial and service districts like the Industrial City (Route 11), the primary routes include King Fahd Road (Route 9), Prince Miteb Street (Route 8A), Al-Makrouna Street (Route 9B), and Old Makkah Road (Route 10). Connecting all routes to the major transport hub at Al-Balad Station will offer a comprehensive travel experience.

The Jeddah Public Transport Program was created to address the city’s present and future demands. By offering comprehensive and integrated public transportation services, the initiative seeks to build a sustainable future for quality of life, following the lead of some of the world’s most prestigious cities. The initiative is unusual in the world because of its size, the difficulties it encounters, and its comparatively short schedule.
