Saudi Arabia and Arab Nations Support Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Monday at the Gaza peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh Egypt marking their first direct encounter in eight years. The notable meeting took place during an international summit aimed at ending the Gaza conflict where more than 20 heads of state and global leaders were present.​

Escorted to the podium by French President Emmanuel Macron President Abbas shook hands with President Trump with the two leaders exchanging a few words before Trump gave a thumbs up to the assembled media. This brief but symbolic gesture ofdrew attention reflecting a possible thaw in a relationship previously strained by diplomatic tensions and denied visas.​

The encounter was widely photographed and highlighted and the renewed efforts to bring stability to the region. President Trump arrived in Egypt after visiting Israel as part of a broad diplomatic push to advance a comprehensive Middle East peace plan. Discussions at the summit centered on implementing the ceasefire deal and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and future reconstruction for Gaza.
