UAE Petrol Prices Rise by 16%: Residents Expect Dubai Metro Travels and Less Office Days

Taking the Metro to work, requesting fewer office days and scheduling client appointments around public transport are among the adjustments UAE citizens are exploring as petrol prices rise by more than 16 percent in October.

Some drivers plan to increase their petrol budgets, while others are looking for ways to limit their driving. For residents who use a car lift, a change in the monthly cost means saving aside more money for the commute to work. A regular-class, all-zone Nol pass is Dh350 for 30 days. This is Dh350 to Dh450 less than his current monthly petrol expenditure, while any fuel he purchases for further trips would remain an additional cost.

“It takes me around an hour on the Metro and 45 to 50 minutes by auto. “The difference is about 15 minutes, so I’m switching to public transport for the time being,” he explained.Shabbir Ahmed, who lives in Horizon Towers in Ajman, plans to discuss working from home for part of the week.

Ahmed works in administration at a used automobile dealership near the Galadari Roundabout in Deira. He drives to work five days a week and says his monthly petrol bill is already more than Dh1,200. I replenish every four days, which is around eight times every month. If I keep going to the office as usual, I expect to spend more than Dh1,500,” Ahmed stated.
