Yemen's Army Strikes Sanaa following a Houthi Attack on the Madinah Power Complex

RIYADH: Yemen’s army said it attacked high-value targets in the capital Sanaa hours after reports that the Houthi militia struck an electrical distribution station in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The Iran-backed Houthis used a drone to attack the plant that powers the Prophet’s Mosque, provoking outrage from Islamic and Arab nations.

Major General Turki al-Maliki, a coalition spokesman, claimed the Taibah electrical distribution station was attacked early on September 29. An inquiry revealed that the Houthi militia planned and carried out the “cowardly terrorist act,” according to Maliki. Authorities conducted an operational evaluation and analysed drone debris to determine the strike’s source.

The Yemeni army announced late Thursday that it had struck a number of sites in Sanaa, Saada, and Taiz. A spokesman stated that the military conducted a “high-value targeting operation” in Sanaa and hit 11 sites in Saada.

He claimed that 27 air attacks had targeted the Houthis’ “integrated military system” in Taiz. According to the Coalition, a drone launched by the Houthis was shot down outside Makkah, Islam’s holiest city, last month, a “red line” was crossed.
