Why Kate Beckinsale Says She Was Fired After Showing Support for Gaza

DUBAI: After responding to a social media post advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza, actress Kate Beckinsale said she lost her agency. She also claimed that when she attempted to discuss the matter in private with fellow actor Mark Ruffalo, he did not reply.

The accusation was made in a number of Instagram comments that were later removed, but they were still accessible beneath a promotional video where Ruffalo, 58, talked about the new movie “Palestine 36.”

Beckinsale, 52, implied in the chat that voicing her opinions online could negatively affect her career. “It must be so nice not to be fired by your agent for liking a post about a ceasefire and not supporting the murder of children,” she added.

You’ve not been fired by the same agent that I had, and she sent me a gift the week before, so we didn’t have any beef, but I liked a post about a ceasefire and I’ve got fired on the same day as Susan Sarandon was fired, two days after the end of the strike after nine months of none of us being able to work at all,” the “Underworld” star wrote, seemingly drawing comparisons between her experience and Ruffalo’s place in the industry.
