Algeria’s prime minister from June 1991 to July 1992 was Sid Ahmed Ghozali, who passed away at the age of 88. RIYADH: President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria has received condolences from King Salman of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the death of former Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali. According to the Saudi Press Agency, King Salman conveyed his sincere condolences to the Algerian president and the departed family in his message.
According to the SPA, the crown prince echoed the king’s sympathies in a separate message. According to official television, Ghozali passed away on February 4 at the age of 88 in the military hospital in Ain Naaja, Algiers. The following day, he was laid to rest in Ben Aknoun Cemetery. Shortly after Algeria gained its independence in 1964, Ghozali, a graduate of the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris, began his career in public service when he was appointed under-secretary of state for public works.
Before being named prime minister from June 1991 to July 8, 1992, he had a number of high-level ministerial roles, including those in energy, water resources, finance, and foreign affairs. In his capacity as minister of industry and energy, he oversaw the nationalisation of the hydrocarbons sector in 1971 and led Sonatrach, Algeria’s state oil firm, from 1966 to 1977.
