How Shark Attacks and Deadly Watercraft Accidents Affect Egypt's Tourism

DUBAI: The Red Sea, which is well-known for its coral reefs and marine life, is a significant centre for Egypt’s tourist sector, which is a vital part of the country’s economy. However, with multiple fatalities documented throughout the years, a recent spate of boating disasters and shark attacks on visitors have sparked worries. In the past, attacks by extremist organisations on foreigners have hurt Egypt’s tourism industry, causing fewer people to travel there to visit other sights like the Great Pyramids of Giza or take a Nile cruise in Luxor and Aswan.
