Stranded Travelers Get Hope as Gulf Airlines Start Limited Relief Flights

RIYADH: Following significant airspace closures and disruptions to international travel due to US-Israeli strikes on Iran, Qatar Airways and Emirates announced that they will start operating limited relief flights on March 5 to help stranded travelers.

Qatar Airways has announced that it will operate flights from Riyadh to Frankfurt and from Muscat, Oman, to six European locations, including London, Berlin, and Rome. According to aviation provider Flightradar24, these would be the airline’s first flights since its Doha hub was closed on February 28 due to the strikes on Iran.

Due to the present circumstances in the area, Emirates said that it will run the flights from March 5 to 11:59 p.m. UAE time on March 7. On these few flights, we are giving preference to clients with earlier reservations. Only when their connecting flight is functioning will customers transiting through Dubai be permitted to board, the group stated.

The airline still advised passengers not to go to the airport unless they had received direct notification from Emirates or had a confirmed reservation for these flights. The Emirates is keeping a close eye on the situation and will adjust our operating schedule as necessary,” the airline stated.

According to Flightradar24 data, as of the morning of March 5th, Emirates flights have departed from Dubai for destinations including Sydney, Paris, Amsterdam, Toronto, and Mumbai. However, the great bulk of services were still cancelled.
