Iran’s President Says Neighbors Won’t Be Targeted Unless They Attack First

DUBAI: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran would stop strikes unless attacks against Iran start from their land and apologized to Gulf neighbors on Saturday for recent drone and missile attacks. As the crisis reached its second week, air defense alarms and interceptions were recorded in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, raising doubts about the apologies.

In a statement that was shown on television, Pezeshkian said, “I personally apologize to the neighboring countries that were affected by Iran’s actions.” He also mentioned that Iran’s temporary leadership council has decided to halt attacks on neighboring governments unless their territory is used to launch attacks against Iran. He claimed that Tehran did not seek conflict with regional nations and instead favored negotiation.

In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Defence said a ballistic missile launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base fell in an uninhabited area, with no reported casualties. According to regional authorities, numerous drones and missiles were intercepted, and several cities experienced disruptions and alerts.

According to UAE officials, a minor incident occurred on the facade of a tower in Dubai Marina as a result of debris from an interception. They said that the situation was under control and that no one was hurt.
