RIYADH: Saudi Arabia will take part in the Global Dialogue on AI Governance to be held on the margins of the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 6 to 7. In a statement Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency said ministers, policymakers and representatives of international organizations, the commercial sector, academia and civil society from around the world will meet in dialogue.
The Saudi delegation, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha, will also see the participation of Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority.
Also participating are Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the UN and international bodies in Geneva; Latifa bint Mohammed Al-Abdulkarim, member of the Saudi Shura Council and the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI; and representatives of the Saudi Human Rights Commission and the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication.
The participation indicates Saudi Arabia’s growing importance in information technology, data, and AI, and its progress in developing a national AI ecosystem under Vision 2030. This also supports the Kingdom’s role as an engaged participant in worldwide efforts to shape responsible AI governance.
