The UAE scored third globally in the Nomad Capitalist Lifestyle Index 2026, which comprised 63 destinations, with a score of 73.15 out of 100. This reinforces its position as one of the world’s top places to live, work, and invest, because to its favourable tax environment, enhanced residency and accessibility, quality of life, and infrastructure.
Monaco led the list with 73.89 points, followed by Andorra with 73.68 points, and the UAE in third position, just 0.74 points behind first. Malta finished fourth with 72.11 points, while Portugal was fifth with 70.09 points. The UAE stood out by exceeding all 63 destinations in the tax criterion, earning 96 points. It was also the sole Gulf state represented in the index, which was created by Nomad Capitalist in partnership with Bridgehead Communications and based on five equally weighted criteria.
However, the index does not only quantify tax advantages; it also distributes weight equally across five pillars to provide a more thorough assessment of lifestyle, including climate, safety, freedom of movement, service quality, and infrastructure. The grading criteria include nature and climate, taxes, residence and accessibility, safety and freedom, quality of life, and infrastructure. Each pillar accounts for 20% of the final score.
