RIYADH: The Digital Cooperation Organization, which works to shape the global digital economy, will attend the 15th annual Islamic Summit Conference in the Gambian capital, Banjul.

DCO Secretary-General Deemah Al-Yahya will lead a delegation to the event, which runs from Saturday to Sunday and coincides with a series of summits organized by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to promote cooperation and understanding among Islamic countries.

The DCO’s participation in the conference conveys our staunch desire to strengthen multilateral efforts to reduce the digital gap and speed up digital transformation and prosperity in collaboration with all concerned parties in the public and private sectors, civil organizations, and international and regional development organizations,” Al-Yahya explained.

“It aligns with the organisation’s goal of digital cooperation, which is to promote comprehensive and long-term growth in the global digital economy within a cooperative framework.

Under the theme “Promoting Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,” the conference will address topics of political, economic, social, cultural, and technological interest, as well as media, legal, social affairs, administration, and financial concerns.

The DCO and the OIC have inked a memorandum of understanding to establish a framework to create a sustainable digital economy and improve internet connectivity in remote and rural areas through human resource digitization.
