A Summer Exhibition in Riyadh Features Thirty-Five Digital Artworks

The Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall in Riyadh will host the Misk Art Institute’s Summer 2024 exhibition, which has 35 digital media works by 28 Saudi and Saudi-based artists.

According to a recent Saudi Press Agency story, 28 artists were chosen to have their works shown after an open call, with the theme “Media and Technology” serving as inspiration.

The show, which is located in the theater next to the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall, consists of 35 pieces that depict historical landmarks and changing urban landscapes in Saudi Arabia as well as the personal narratives of the artists and human relationships in public and private areas.

In addition, pieces that explore the artists’ backgrounds and draw inspiration from societal memory and the effects of cities on society are on display. Of these, “Arta” by Hind Al-Duwaish is particularly noteworthy for its painful examination of her hometown, Al-Artawiyah.

Al-Duwaish set out on a quest to find the plant somewhere, which she recorded in her artwork, after learning that the town was named after the arta shrub, also called the fire bush and now nearly extinct in the area.
