ANTALYA: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan warned on Friday that aid entering Gaza cannot be connected to a cease-fire. Prince Faisal also stated that the international community must put pressure on the Israeli government to enable relief delivery to Gaza.

The Saudi minister was speaking at a joint press conference in Antalya after a meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on a Gaza ceasefire, which examined events in the enclave and efforts to reach an urgent and long-term ceasefire.

The summit also stressed the importance of continuing efforts to ensure that the Palestinian people can exercise their natural rights. Prince Faisal vehemently opposed any displacement of Palestinians. He said that the Kingdom appreciated Egypt and Qatar’s efforts in the cease-fire negotiations.

We firmly condemn any idea that involves the displacement of Palestinians from their land; this applies to all forms of displacement, he stated. Some try to label certain forms of Palestinian departures as “voluntary,” but you can’t talk about voluntary departure when Palestinians in Gaza are denied the most basic essentials of existence.

Even if someone is compelled to leave, it is not a voluntary departure if aid is not reaching the area, if people are unable to obtain food, water, or electricity, and if they are constantly under danger of military bombing. Coercion is what this is,” he continued.
