When it comes to securing timepieces, jewelry, or personal treasures, no name carries as much heritage and prestige as Döttling. Founded in Sindelfingen, Germany over a century ago, Döttling has built a legacy of heritage, craftsmanship, and absolute exclusivity. With an impeccable reputation in the field, Döttling has worked with renowned brands, delivering top-notch customized safes catering the clients’ unique requirements.
Arabian Mirror sat down with the brand’s Associate Partner, Oliver Straka to learn more about the history, global presence, and their growing footprint in the Gulf.
One-Of-A-Kind Pieces By Döttling
Arabian Mirror: Döttling is often referred to as the Patek Philippe or Rolls Royce of luxury safes. Can you share more about what makes the brand so unique?
Oliver: Döttling is the oldest luxury safe manufacturer in the world—founded 106 years ago in Germany. It’s a heritage boutique. We don’t produce for the masses—every Döttling safe is a one-of-a-kind piece. Our clients range from watch collectors, jewelry lovers, gun owners, and cigar aficionados—those who appreciate the finer, gentleman-style luxuries—to ladies who choose our safes to elegantly store their rings, watches, necklaces, and personal treasures.
Global Clientele For Exquisite Pieces
Arabian Mirror: Where are your clients based, and how do they discover Döttling?
Oliver: Our clientele is truly global. You’ll find our pieces in the most exquisite properties in Monaco, London, Paris, Geneva, New York, Beverly Hills, Marbella, Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Palm Beach, and Doha, just to name a few. We don’t advertise much. Döttling has always grown through word of mouth—a client sees a piece at a private residence or through their interior designer and reaches out.
Exploring Opportunities In The GCC Region
Arabian Mirror: The GCC is a strategic region. How is Döttling positioned here?
Oliver: The GCC has been incredibly important to us—especially in the last decade. We work with members of the Al Thani Royal Family in Qatar, private collectors, and VIP clients in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We’re also collaborating with interior designers, architects, and personal advisors on high-end villa and penthouse projects.
We spend time on the ground meeting clients in person, especially in Riyadh and Dubai. There’s a real appreciation for heritage in GCC—and our antique collection is incredibly well-received there. We’re proud to be the only manufacturer in the world offering fully restored antique safes.
Worth-Mentioning Collaborations
Arabian Mirror: Döttling is known for its unique collaborations. Can you tell us more about that side of the brand?
Oliver: We’ve had the honor of working with some truly iconic names. One of our most notable collaborations was with Jaeger-LeCoultre, where we created a limited collection of 10 luxury safes. We also developed a limited-edition masterpiece designed by Karl Lagerfeld, which remains one of the most talked-about safes in our history. Right now, we’re preparing something truly unique for 2026. We can’t share too much yet, but it will be a statement piece on a global level.
Envisioning The Future
Arabian Mirror: Oliver, What does the future look like for Döttling in the Middle East?
Oliver: Our goal is to create deeper partnerships here—both with private clients and trusted collaborators. Middle Eastern clients appreciate heritage and individuality. They don’t want what’s in the store window—they want the one that no one else can have. And that’s where Döttling shines.
