LONDON: As part of a Middle East tour that started this week in Saudi Arabia, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier landed in Jordan on Tuesday. According to the Jordan News Agency, Steinmeier, who has been president of Germany since 2017, will meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman.
German Ambassador to Amman Bertram von Moltke, Jordanian Ambassador to Berlin Fayez Khouri, and senior Jordanian officials welcomed Steinmeier at Marka International Airport. On Monday, Steinmeier met with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. Following a welcome event sponsored by the crown prince in honour of the president, the parties engaged in formal negotiations.
