JEDDAH: In reaction to the National Center for Meteorology’s forecasts of heavy rain, the Makkah branch of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority has stepped up its preparedness.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms were reported in Makkah and Madinah, among other parts of the Kingdom, on Monday. The Saudi Press Agency said the Civil Defense predicted that the weather would persist until Wednesday. According to the authority, its volunteer ambulance units, fast response teams, ambulance stations, and command-and-control room are all fully functional in Makkah.
According to the authority, teams of physicians, specialists, and emergency medical technicians are on standby throughout the Makkah region. With the assistance of 149 vehicles, 1,420 staff members are prepared to respond. According to the SPA, these include state-of-the-art ambulances, emergency response vehicles, and an air ambulance for dire circumstances.
During periods of heavy rains, the authorities advised residents and people to prioritize road safety, exercise caution, and adhere to official directives. According to the SPA, the public was also urged to assist ambulance crews by making room on the roads for them.
