With the approval of a final agreement outlining a thorough, workable framework to execute the two-state solution, Saudi Arabia and France wrapped up the high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli issue on Tuesday.
The final communiqué, which offers integrated suggestions across political, security, humanitarian, economic, legal, and strategic narrative elements, was adopted, according to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
The goal of the text is to provide a workable plan for achieving both enduring regional peace and an independent Palestinian state. Notifying the Saudi and French missions in New York, Prince Faisal urged other countries to support the text before the end of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Following a resounding display of worldwide support during the opening session, the Saudi-French meeting, which was jointly chaired, entered its second and final day. On the first day, there was broad criticism of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, including what many saw as intentional starvation tactics, and agreement on the necessity of a fair settlement to the conflict.
Plans to create a temporary international mission under UN supervision, with regional involvement, to stabilize the situation and stop Israeli settlement construction in Gaza and the West Bank are among the conclusions of the summit, according to the Palestinian Authority.
