RIYADH — The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), represented by the committee in charge of investigating violations of the Civil Aviation System provisions, registered 542 violations in 2024 and fined entities and individuals SR18,892,200 for violating the authority’s regulations and instructions.
According to the report, 111 violations were issued to air carriers for failing to follow the Authority’s instructions on the advance passenger registration system and noncompliance with time slots. They were asked to pay a total fine of SR3,650,000. In nine additional incidents, air carriers who failed to follow the Authority’s directions were fined SR290,000. A total fine of SR14,425,000 was imposed on air carriers for failing to respect the Passenger Rights Protection Regulations in 305 instances.
The Authority assessed a total of SR175,000 for 17 infractions by licensed enterprises that failed to follow its directions and regulations. Two air transport businesses were fined SR40,000 for failing to comply with the terms of licenses issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The study also indicated that the committee issued 92 violations against persons, 15 of which were related to the use of drones without Authority permissions. The 15 violators received a total fine of SR75,000. It stated a total fine of SR79,200 was levied in 74 cases involving passengers failing to obey aviation safety regulations and engaging in disruptive behaviour on board the aircraft.
