RIYADH: In an effort to improve the standard of infrastructure for coastal tourism, the Saudi Red Sea Authority has released the Kingdom’s first four industry-specific codes with international standards.
The Marina Planning and Design Code, the Cruise Terminal Planning and Design Code, the Marina Operations Code, and the Cruise Terminal Operations Code were created to improve the quality of the coastal tourism industry and standardise technical criteria for marinas and cruise terminals.
The codes’ release is in keeping with the authority’s mandates, which include setting standards, regulations, and guidelines for the provision of services for marinas and navigational and maritime tourism operations.
In order to establish the Red Sea as a top international travel destination, tasks include their creation, management, operation, and supervision in collaboration with pertinent bodies and utilising the best worldwide techniques.
The codes will cover yachts, cruise ships, and other watercraft used for marine tourism. They address developers, planners, designers, engineers, and technicians in linked businesses and guarantee the quality of infrastructure.
For the management and operation of coastal tourism facilities, the codes provide particular criteria and requirements. They will function as a uniform reference manual outlining the minimal specifications needed for these facilities’ administration and functioning.
