Haramain Train uses 1.6 million Seats and 3800 Trips to Transport Hajj Pilgrims. May 29, 2024

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) will operate 3,800 trips of the Haramain High Speed Train to transport pilgrims during the current Hajj season. To accommodate the record number of pilgrims this year, the number of seats has increased to 1.6 million.

SAR announced that the Haramain Train is ready to receive God’s guests by revealing its operational plan for the Hajj season. The Haramain Train connects Makkah and Madinah via five stations on its 453-kilometre railroad, including the main Jeddah station in Sulaymaniyah district, the King Abdulaziz International Airport station in Jeddah, and the King Abdullah Economic City Station.

The operational plan included a 100,000 increase in seats available for pilgrims over last year, bringing the total to 1.6 million. This increase is due to the addition of over 430 new trips to last year’s trips, totaling 3,800 trips, between Dhul Qada 1, corresponding to May 9, and Dhul Hijjah 19, corresponding to June 25, bringing the number of trips on peak days to 126.

It is worth noting that the Haramain High-Speed Train is one of the world’s ten fastest passenger trains, reaching speeds of 300 kilometers per hour. It runs a fleet of 35 trains, each with a capacity of 417 seats.
