In His Easter Speech, King Charles of Britain Emphasises The Importance of Ecumenical Principles

LONDON: In his Easter address, King Charles of Britain urged for more tolerance and understanding amongst all religions while praising the morals of Judaism and the human instinct of Islam. The King reflected on the timeless value of compassion in a statement sent on Maundy Thursday, wishing the people a “blessed and peaceful Easter.” He declared, “Love is the greatest virtue the world needs.”

“On Maundy Thursday, Jesus knelt and washed the feet of many of those who would abandon him,” the King stated in his Easter sermon. His selfless deed was a sign of his unbounded love, which is essential to Christian doctrine. “His love for strangers and those in need, which is a deep human instinct echoed in Islam and other religious traditions, as well as in the hearts of all who seek the good of others, was reflected in his actions while walking the earth.”

King Charles has made interfaith discussion a top priority since ascending to the throne. He frequently expresses his appreciation for the principles shared by all religions and promotes increased interfaith cooperation. Although Charles has previously delivered Easter greetings, notably while serving as Prince of Wales, this year’s address is one of his most explicit recognitions to date of the universal values found in Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and other religions.
