On February 17, 2025, family members and friends of hostages demonstrate outside Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Jerusalem residence to commemorate the 500 days since October 7, 2023. Thursday would see the return of four hostage bodies to Israel, followed by four more the following week Jerusalem: Israel confirmed an earlier Hamas claim on Tuesday that it anticipates the return of the bodies of four hostages held in Gaza on Thursday, before the release of six remaining hostages on Saturday.
In reference to the truce agreement that went into effect last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that “agreements were reached according to which the six living hostages (due for release under) the first phase will be released on Saturday” during indirect negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian militant group in Cairo. Four captive bodies will be sent back to Israel on Thursday, with four more to follow next week, it added.
