Jordan Calls for Lasting Peace in Gaza and Reaffirms Two-State Vision at Mediterranean Forum

BARCELONA: At the 10th Regional Forum of Foreign Ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean, which concluded Friday, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi reiterated support for the two-state solution and called for a lasting peace in Gaza.

The meeting, which was hosted by Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares and co-chaired by European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas, was attended by members of European and regional organizations as well as foreign ministers and leaders of delegations from UfM member states.

The promise of peace, prosperity, and cooperation has been shattered by a brutal occupation whose inhumane nature has been exposed in the most horrific ways during two years of genocide in Gaza,” Safadi said during his speech at the summit.

He emphasized the recent displacement of 32,000 Palestinians, the growth of settlements, the expropriation of land, and the stifling of the Palestinian economy in the occupied West Bank. He emphasized adherence to international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, saying, “The two-state solution remains the only path to a just and comprehensive peace.
