KYIV: According to Kyiv officials, a Russian drone struck a bus transporting workers in the Ukrainian city of Marhanets on Wednesday, killing nine people and wounding almost fifty others. President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strike a “deliberate war crime.” According to Zelensky, a bus carrying employees from a mining and processing facility was struck by the Russian strike.
“Just a regular bus. Zelensky stated on X that it was “clearly a civilian object, a civilian target.”
He went on to demand “an immediate, full, and unconditional ceasefire,” saying, “It was an egregiously brutal attack – and an absolutely deliberate war crime.” According to Kyiv’s air force, Russia launched 134 attack drones at targets in Ukraine throughout the course of the night. Russia did not immediately comment. Despite the withdrawal of foreign ministers from the majority of other major powers, Ukrainian officials came in London on Wednesday to discuss methods to reach a ceasefire as a first step towards peace.
Marhanets is located in south-central Ukraine on the Ukrainian-controlled north bank of the dried-up reservoir of the Dnipro River, which divides the opposing sides. Serhiy Lysak, the regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk, reported that the attack claimed nine lives and injured forty-nine. Zelensky posted pictures of the attack’s aftermath on X, which saw bodies being taken away by rescue personnel and laying in and near the bus.
