During French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the AlUla governorate on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia and France launched the Hegra Villa project. It is the most recent strategic cooperation project between the French Agency for AlUla Development and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU).
On the occasion, it was stated that Hegra Villa is the first Saudi-French cultural institution to be formed in Saudi Arabia with the goal of advancing cultural diplomacy globally via collaboration and shared creativity, which helps to empower communities and foster cross-cultural conversation. Among these are a number of ambitious projects backed by French expertise in sophisticated engineering, training, tourism, innovation, research, the arts, and sustainable development.
The display highlights the areas of strategic cooperation between France and Saudi Arabia, which was established in 2018 with the goal of making AlUla a world-class travel destination while preserving its rich historical and cultural legacy. Macron toured the exhibition’s pavilions, which featured panels and models from various AlUla locations that represented the two countries’ collaborations and partnerships in the areas of sustainable agriculture, culture, the arts, training, knowledge sharing, sports, filmmaking, tourism, hospitality, and transportation, as well as the sharing of knowledge and training in the preservation and management of archaeological collections.
