After graduating in 1995 with a Degree in Architecture and Planning from King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Bin Jaafar began his career in the private sector, working in the construction industry and with architectural consultancies as an architect. In 1998, he transitioned to the public sector, joining Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs. He mentions, “Over the years, I held several roles, culminating in my position as Director of the Municipal One-Stop Shop, where I oversaw investment projects and contributed to enhancing Bahrain’s business environment.”
One of the key achievements during his tenure was collaborating with the World Bank on the Doing Business report, which recognized Bahrain as the global leader in the ease of issuing building permits for investment projects. Recently, Mohamed Bin Jaafar launched his architectural firm, Horoof Architects, specializing in integrating traditional architectural elements into modern designs, reflecting his passion for innovation and heritage in architecture.
