In response to claims of UAE visa cancellations among Bangladeshi expatriates abroad, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi released a statement on Monday. The statement urged citizens to follow official channels for updates and refrain from spreading rumors.
According to the statement, the embassy has been informed that numerous Bangladeshi citizens, whether on vacation or not, are discovering that “their UAE visas have been cancelled without any stated reason” while they are outside the UAE.
The Embassy is already investigating if the cancellations are “due to a technical error or if there is any specific reason,” the official told Bangladeshi expatriates. The UAE is home to more than a million Bangladeshi laborers, both skilled and unskilled.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, among other senior government officials in Bangladesh, are keeping a careful eye on the issue. “This has understandably caused significant concern and anxiety among expatriates holding UAE residency,” the statement continued.
The Bangladeshi Embassy in Abu Dhabi also issued a warning to its citizens, advising them to be cautious of false information spreading on the internet.
“False, incomplete, and misleading information using the logo of the Government of Bangladesh, official state emblems, the national flag, and even the embassy’s email address” is being disseminated, according to the report.
