Oracle Strengthens Saudi Arabia's AI Economy by Launching the Country's Second Public Cloud Area

As part of a $1.5 billion commitment to improve Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure, technology company Oracle Corp. has opened its second public cloud region in Riyadh.

According to a news statement, the Riyadh cloud region will give Saudi Arabian public and private sector businesses access to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, enabling them to innovate utilizing data, analytics, and artificial intelligence and modernize applications.

The effort is expected to have a major impact on the AI economy of the Kingdom, which is expected to grow to $135.2 billion by 2030.

This development is a component of Oracle’s distributed cloud strategy and comes after the company first established a region in Jeddah and then made plans to open another in NEOM.

The opening of Oracle’s new cloud region in Riyadh, according to Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Haytham Al-Ohali, “reflects the Kingdom’s continuous efforts in boosting the digital economy based on modern technologies and innovation.”

“This step will significantly enhance Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness at the regional and global levels by enabling local and international companies to achieve innovation and promote the adoption of AI and cloud computing technologies in various sectors,” the speaker continued.
