Oslo Police Arrest the Son of the Norwegian Royal Princess with Rape and Sexual Abuse

OSLO: Following months of investigation into a case involving a “double-digit” number of alleged victims, Oslo police on Friday filed charges against Marius Borg Høiby, the oldest son of Norway’s crown princess, on many counts, including rape, sexual assault, and bodily injury. Høiby, the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, the heir apparent, and the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been under investigation since he was detained many times in 2024 on preliminary charges of criminal damage and bodily injury as well as rape.

Høiby cooperated throughout the police interrogation, which is already finished, according to Oslo Police Attorney Andreas Kruszewski. According to the police lawyer, the case’s evidence came from a variety of sources, including witness statements, text messages, and police searches. According to Kruszewksi, the charges comprised four incidents of sexual assault, two cases of physical injury, one case of rape including sexual relations, and two cases of rape without sexual relations.

“Aside from verifying that it is a double-digit number, I am unable to provide any additional information regarding the number of victims in the case,” he stated. Høiby is “absolutely taking the accusations very seriously, but doesn’t acknowledge any wrongdoing in most of the cases — especially the cases regarding sexual abuse and violence,” according to defence lawyer Petar Sekulic, who made this statement in an email to The Associated Press. In Norway, where the royal family is well-liked, the case made headlines.
