ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will make his first overseas trip since his election to Saudi Arabia from April 6–8, the Pakistani Foreign Office announced on Friday. The premier will meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the trip.

There are robust trade, defense, and cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. With more than 2.7 million Pakistani expats living there, the Kingdom is the most popular place for remittances to leave the financially struggling South Asian nation.

The foreign ministry announced the PM’s visit by stating, “The Prime Minister is expected to meet the Crown Prince and Prime Minister HRH Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and discuss issues of mutual interest. “The leaders will discuss and share perspectives on regional and worldwide advancements.”

The ministers of information, finance, economic affairs, and defense will go with Sharif. In Madinah, he will pray and do Umrah in the Masjid Nabwi Al-Sharif.

According to the foreign office, “the leadership of both countries is committed to advancing the fraternal ties and mutually rewarding economic and investment relations.”
