Following a UK court judgement that dismissed his legal appeal over personal security, which he described as heartbreaking and politically motivated, Prince Harry said he “would love a reconciliation” with the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex stated in a tearful BBC interview that he could not envision a day when he and his wife Meghan, and their kids could return to the UK in safety as a result of the tragedy. I’m devastated by the people who made the decision, not so much by the loss,” he added.
The prince claimed influence from the Royal Household was the reason behind the withdrawal of his automatic police protection once he left royal responsibilities in 2020, referring to the decision as “a good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment beyond stating that “all of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts. Prince Harry declared that he no longer wanted to fight and had forgiven his family.
He said his relationship with King Charles is still tense, saying, “There’s no point in fighting anymore; life is precious. This security stuff is why the King won’t talk to me.
Even though Prince Harry faced real threats, the court determined that his claims lacked merit. Judges termed the security committee’s decision “sensible” in light of his altered position, even if they admitted that it strayed from conventional procedure.
